Vacation photoshoot · Las Vegas

In short

Vacation photoshoot in Las Vegas starts at $325: 60 min on location with a photographer who works in Las Vegas, and 40 edited photos delivered to a private gallery within 48–72 hours.

Why choose Vacation photoshoot in Las Vegas?

Most visitors photograph Las Vegas at the one hour it photographs worst — the middle of the day, when the Strip is flat and white and the desert is unusable. The two hours that actually work here are the opposite ends: sunrise in the red rock twenty minutes west, and after dark on the Strip and Fremont Street, where the neon does the lighting for you. A session here is one or the other, and they are different bookings.

Worth knowing about Las Vegas

Calico Basin is the piece of local knowledge that saves a visiting family the most trouble: it sits just outside the Red Rock Canyon fee area, gives most of the same sandstone, and requires none of the timed-entry reservations that the scenic drive does in peak season. For a one-hour session with children it is straightforwardly the better location.

What does the session in Las Vegas look like?

Red Rock Canyon or Calico Basin
Red sandstone at sunrise. Calico Basin needs no timed reservation, which makes it the practical choice.
The Neon Museum
Retired Las Vegas signs, some relit. A portrait session needs a reservation with the museum.
Fremont Street and the Strip
After dark, from the sidewalk. Neon as a light source rather than as a backdrop.

FAQ — Vacation photoshoot in Las Vegas

When should we photograph in Las Vegas?

Sunrise for the desert and after dark for the Strip. The middle of the day is the worst hour here — flat, white and, between June and September, dangerously hot in the open desert. A one-hour session is one or the other rather than both, because they are twenty minutes and twelve hours apart.

Do we need a reservation for Red Rock Canyon?

For the scenic drive in peak season, yes — a timed-entry reservation is required. Calico Basin, immediately adjacent and outside the fee area, needs none and gives most of the same sandstone, which is why vacation sessions usually go there instead. Timed entry applies from October 1 to May 31 for entry between 8am and 5pm, so a sunrise arrival needs none. Commercial photography on either still requires a BLM permit, and where to apply for it is explained to you at booking.
