Timing
Late September through October is the best light of the year and the foliage arrives in the third week of October. May and early June are green, mild and entirely consumed by commencement. July and August are humid and the harbour haze flattens distance. Winter is genuinely cold and the light is short, but a fresh snowfall on Beacon Hill is the single most photogenic condition available in this city and lasts about a day.
