March and April are the best weeks: wildflowers, mild temperatures, everything green before the heat arrives. Late October and November are the second window, warm and golden with clear air. June through September is punishing, with daily highs near 100°F and no relief until sunset. Winter is mild and often clear but the landscape goes brown and the cypress drop their needles.

These come under the Austin rate: a photographer travels out from the city at no extra charge, and the session is priced exactly as it would be in Austin itself.
Yes, and it is the strictest access rule in the Austin area. Travis County requires a paid per-vehicle reservation made in advance, slots are limited and release ahead of time, and the preserve closes on short notice when rainfall makes the trail unsafe or bacteria levels rise. Commercial photography needs separate county approval on top of the reservation. Any session here is planned with a fallback location.
